About Us
We have an experienced team of experts ready to help child victims and their families navigate a complex system and address their unique needs. With a coordinated team response, law enforcement investigators, prosecutors, social workers, advocates, and medical and mental health professionals provide child victims and their families with high-quality, specialized services. Helping abused children and their families requires an approach that addresses physical, emotional, and legal dimensions of abuse. It requires a coordinated response from experienced professionals to reduce stress throughout the investigation and intervention process.
The Cortland County Child Advocacy Center offers a non-threatening atmosphere where law enforcement and child protective services come together to talk to the child victims and their non-offending family members. We utilize a Multidisciplinary Team response to gain knowledge and clarity about the child's experience. Advocacy provides support and referrals to specialized services, as well as assistance with court processes. A Forensic Interview is a non-leading interview with the child conducted by specially trained staff. A Medical Evaluation is a specialized forensic exam performed by professional medical staff. Specialized Mental Health Providers provide crisis intervention and support. Prevention Education is utilized to provide community outreach and education in order to increase awareness and knowledge about child abuse.Rep/Contact Info
